7 Summits Snacks Named an Edmonton Startup Week Top 10 Company and to Scale Up Canada's Edmonton50 2026
Women-owned functional chocolate brand recognised among Edmonton's most promising startups as it prepares for 2027 expansion
EDMONTON, Alberta, September 23, 2026:
7 Summits Snacks, a women-owned functional chocolate snack brand founded by sisters Kristyn and Leanna Carriere, has been named one of the Top 10 companies featured at Edmonton Startup Week's 2026 Launch Party, and has also been named to Scale Up Canada's Edmonton50 2026, an annual list highlighting the city's most promising startups and scaleups.
The Edmonton Startup Week Launch Party takes place October 8 at Edmonton Unlimited, bringing the community together to celebrate the people, companies and momentum shaping Edmonton's tech and innovation story. 7 Summits Snacks is the only food brand among this year's Top 10, which spans AI, agtech, biotech, defence technology and sustainable materials. On the Edmonton50, the company was recognised for "chocolate crafted for performance," bringing consumer packaged goods innovation to the forefront of a list that also spans robotics, clean energy and life sciences.
"Being named to both the Edmonton Startup Week Top 10 and the Edmonton50 is a proud moment for our team and a testament to the diversity of high-potential companies that Edmonton is known to build," said Kristyn Carriere, Co-Founder and CEO of 7 Summits Snacks. "We started with a simple question from my sister: can we fuel with chocolate? Today, aspiring adventurers across Canada are proving the answer is yes. Standing alongside some of the most exciting companies in our city shows that food innovation belongs in the conversation, and this recognition comes at an exciting time as we prepare to take 7 Summits Snacks further in 2027."
7 Summits Snacks makes purposeful chocolate snacks for performance, including 31g Energy Bars with functional ingredients, and 80g Superfood Chocolate Bars. Each bar is inspired by one of the Seven Summits and features ingredients native to that region. Every product is made with no artificial additives, ethically sourced ingredients and recyclable packaging, and the company donates 1% of sales to environmental causes as a member of 1% for the Planet.
The company is stocked in nearly 300 retail locations across Canada, has grown revenue approximately 20% year over year, and maintains a strongly performing online repeat purchase rate. 7 Summits Snacks has also been recognised as the first Canadian winner of PepsiCo's Stacy's Rise Project, a 2026 Mastercard Small Business Fund recipient, a PizzaHut Equal Slice recipient, and #448 on the FoodTech 500.
7 Summits Snacks is currently raising a pre-seed round to support its geographical expansion in 2027, deepening its global presence through established broker partnerships and growing its retail footprint across Canada.
