Natural Products Canada releases first female-focused report for International Women’s Day
(March 8, 2023 – Vancouver, British Columbia) - Seven Summits Snacks is thrilled to announce their inclusion in Game Changers: Leading Companies. Powered by Women, an initiative led by Natural Products Canada (NPC). This new list of over 100 companies provides an interesting look at the women leading Canada’s growing natural and bio-based industries.
At 7 Summits Snacks we are gaining momentum and gaining recognition based on solid foundations! As a women-founded and led organization and as an organization comprised of athletes who understand the product and active world our consumers live in, we have a trifecta of foundational knowledge and insight that has crafted the brand and products we aim to serve the market with. Our products aren’t “just chocolate”, they are cleverly crafted for specific activities.
Considerations within our product design and supply chain to improve the wellbeing of people and the planet, are core to our brand. First of all, we are providing a sports nutrition product that not only tastes delicious, but it also uses ingredients that are more naturally derived in the mind of the consumer. We choose functional ingredients that follow kitchen-logic (you can pronounce them and understand what they are) allowing the consumer to consciously understand what they are putting in their body to fuel their adventures. We also craft our bars with superfoods to flavour the chocolate, which provide extra amounts of flavanols, antioxidants, and micronutrients benefiting an active lifestyle instead of using "natural or artificial" flavours. With these familiar ingredients, everyday athletes are able to consume our bars during their activities and not feel the ill-effects of digesting ingredients that their body is less familiar with, allowing the athlete to continue performing!
Secondly, our chocolate is ethically sourced. The cocoa industry is still riddled with unethical farming practices which often still employ child labour. We only source chocolate where social programs are established and implemented in the growing regions and farms that our chocolate comes from. With co-founder Kristyn's longstanding experience in the chocolate industry, we are able to choose chocolate that is BOTH ethically sourced AND delicious meeting the palate expectations of the consumer.

Seven Summits Snacks (7 Summits Snacks) is a women-owned, Made in Canada superfood chocolate company. Fit founders Kristyn and Leanna were tired of not finding a chocolate that spoke to them in the grocery store: a tasty chocolate with a tidy ingredient line and a hiker or runner on the package. Something they knew would be good for them, and good for activity.
Natural Products Canada (NPC) is the driving force behind Canada’s Natural Product Innovation Cluster–a strategic and diverse community focused on the development and commercialization of naturally-derived products and technologies in health and life sciences, natural resources, agriculture and agri-food, and sustainable bioproducts. As part of its role in the Cluster, NPC offers in-depth advice and a suite of commercialization programs to Canadian early-stage companies and research institutes; provides connections and innovation scouting services to corporations and investors; and leverages an investment fund (NPC Ventures) to help develop and de-risk promising Canadian opportunities. NPC has received financial support from the Government of Canada’s Strategic Innovation Fund, administered by the department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and the Centre of Excellence in Commercialization and Research (CECR) program, administered by the Networks of Centres of Excellence.
