The Chocolate Has Landed — And We're Back!

PRESS RELEASE:

7 Summits Snacks Resumes Production After Extended Supply Chain Disruption

Edmonton, AB – April 28, 2025 – After an extended production hiatus, 7 Summits Snacks is proud to announce that its signature functional chocolate bars are officially back in stock and ready to fuel adventures across Canada and in the US.

The company’s last chocolate shipment was received in early September 2024. By November, retail and online inventory had been exhausted, and no further product could be produced due to the loss of a manufacturing partner. From mid-November onward, 7 Summits Snacks experienced a complete halt in revenue as it navigated the challenge of securing new production capacity.

The journey to restore operations began in August 2024, when the search for a new manufacturing partner commenced. It took until March 28, 2025, for production to resume with a new facility. This process involved navigating ingredient sourcing difficulties, recipe precision concerns, increased raw material costs, and shipping disruptions—each adding significant complexity and cost to operations.

“We’re incredibly relieved to have made it through this stretch,” said Kristyn Carriere, Co-Founder of 7 Summits Snacks. “From manually sourcing coconut oil across multiple grocery deliveries to dealing with lost and damaged pallets, it’s been a challenging but clarifying experience.”

The company reports that per-unit manufacturing costs have significantly increased—doubling for its 30g bars and tripling for its 80g offerings. As a result, large-format bars are currently being produced in limited batches by hand in a shared kitchen in Edmonton and are available only to select customers.

Despite these hurdles, 7 Summits Snacks has survived thanks to the support of its community. “Our customers, retail partners, and early investors have carried us through this disruption,” said Carriere. “Pre-orders, continued retail purchases, and supportive investment allowed us to maintain progress and keep our small team afloat.”

In addition, provincial and federal grant funding, applied for in spring 2024, provided critical operational support throughout March and April of this year.

With chocolate once again on hand, the company is moving forward. Efforts are now focused on re-establishing retail relationships, rebuilding e-commerce activity, and expanding distribution, particularly in sports and outdoor communities across Canada.

7 Summits Snacks is also actively seeking investors to support its next growth phase, which includes building a self-manufacturing facility in Edmonton to gain more control over inputs, quality, and production timelines.

“We’re still here. We’re here to stay. And we’re here to fuel your next adventure.”
